About:
Project title: RNS Moves Research and Development_Workshops with RNS Moves players

Rapasa's work with RNS (Royal Northern Sinfonia) Moves has gone further into his collaborative work with Orchestras. Over years nyatiti musicians have been interested in trying possibilities and potential of the nyatiti instrument including networking with a range of diverse music community. In May 2024 Rapasa got an opportunity to work with RNS Moves at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. They spent time to explore about the Nyatiti music and the people that plays it, the place of the instrument within the community, song | lyrics | melodies composition approach, changes that have occurred and possibly where we are now.
Furthermore, they explored the mother tune of Thum nyatiti KOBLO GI LONG MARACHAR/MARATENG', In this section the network of instruments deepen with hands to a range of musical styles, elements like acoustics, harp, fiddle, cello, wind and electronic instruments to re-imagine the mother tune now.
Rapasa really enjoyed his time leading with Tristan Gurney to explore together with The Royal Northern Sinfonia in switching roles, improvisations on Ongogo from album KWEChE, vocal patching and developing in real-time the diversity in music is incredible.

This encounter was organised by The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. Rapasa looks forward to further this conversation in early 2025.
